OPI Nail Envy - Problem!

opi nail envy

I've been using Nail Envy because of my nail peeling problem that I've been having. Today I found out that it's got wheat in it. All Nail Envy products contain wheat. Just waiting on the official OPI Titter account to get back to me on whether the polishes are safe. I currently have bare nails, I don't do bare nails! But I do not want to be glutened.

I now need to contact Leighton Denny, Nails Inc and Zoya to see if their products are gluten free because these are the only brands I use. Twitter calls!

Update:

Zoya are the first to respond saying that their nail treatments and polishes are all gluten free. Yay! I was seriously thinking that I may never be able to wear nail polish again. Wouldn't have been the end of the world of course, but I do love having sexy nails. Phew.

Update:

2nd tweets sent to those who haven't responded. Customer service questionable from both.

Update:

This is a great article that lists other names for gluten ingredients in beauty products. A reference piece for sure. Still no word from OPI or Leighton Denny.

Update: 3rd tweets have been sent to OPI and Leighton Denny. Crapola customer service.

  1. I think you'd probably be okay with nail polish, but totally understand the desire to eliminate any form of wheat and/or gluten on or around your body. I recently wrote about the issue of wheat, gluten and cosmetics here: http://www.skinsmatter.com/eczema_and_skin_conditions/pers_care_prods/articles/gluten_cosmetics_gazzola_11_11.html

    You might find it useful.

    All the best, Alex Gazzola

  2. Thanks Alex, I'll have a read.

Not sure that nail polish would be ok, eating with hands, prepping food etc, I wouldn't want to take that risk.
