Gluten Free Red Pork Recipe

Red Pork Cooking In The Wok With Pak Choi
Red pork seasoning was a great discovery, because not only can I now replicate the barbecue sauce you get from Chinese restaurants and take aways, it also makes a quick meal of beautifully tenderised pork.

This is such a simple recipe that you could serve with a variety of sides. It has a star anise, cinnamon, paprika, sweet and salty flavour combination going on. Lovely!

Ingredients:

Pork Fillet
1 sachet of Red Pork Seasoning (Always check the ingredients)
120ml Cold Water
1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
1 teaspoon Corn Flour

Directions:
  • Mix the red pork seasoning with the water and mix until there is no powder left
  • Cut the pork fillet into thin slices (around 1/2 cm)
  • Add the pork to the liquid and move around until all the pork is covered
  • Marinate in the fridge for at least 5 hours
  • Heat a wok on high and add the sesame oil
  • Put the pork slices into the pan but don't add the marinade liquid
  • Cook on high for about 8 - 10 mins turning frequently
  • Once the pork is cooked through remove and keep warm
  • Turn the heat down low
  • Add the red pork marinade to the wok
  • Mix 2 tablespoons of water into the corn flour until smooth
  • Add the corn flour mix into the wok and stir
  • Turn the heat back on high and stir
  • In a few minutes you should have a lovely thick sauce to serve with your pork

You need to marinate this for at least 5 hours or else the pork will have a chewy texture. If you leave it 5 hours or longer you won't even need a knife to cut through it, a fork will glide through. This is a seriously melt in the mouth recipe that anyone can cook.
