Weekend Eats 12 3/4

My Glutenite still doesn't believe that Roddy and his chums are actually frying the crisps. My mum does think I'm slightly mad but has some recollection of the McCain pizza toppers. Some. I think she was humouring me to be honest.

I've taken it upon myself to get to the bottom of this. I've sent a message to Roddy via the website. This is what popped up after I hit send:

email message from burts crisps

I didn't ask anything rude, naughty or stupid, I asked which other flavours were gluten free. I'll let you know if I get a reply.

This was the week that the Halloween aisle appeared in Tesco. I love the Halloween aisle! Halloween Haribo has now grown into bucket form:

32 mini bags, a combination of Horror Mix and Magic Mix. I don't even have a child to blame this on. I can't help it, I've always loved anything Halloweeny. If you've been with Free From G for a while you may remember the post where I wrote about my Witches Wendy House and all the paraphernalia that was in it (may have been the one about visiting the Harry Potter Tour). I spent hours in that Wendy House after school for a number of years. Now I just eat Halloween Haribo when I get the chance.

The other thing wasn't a discovery, more of an 'ok I give in' moment. I'm going to do some..... *gasp* .... baking. There, I said it. Don't be expecting cutesy cupcakes though! :)

I decided to get some rice flour because the masa harina just isn't working for the onion rings batter, I'm yet to try corn meal but I figured I'll test out both. Realising that I could use the rice flour to make so much more, I've decided to give cheese straws a go. I used to love cheese straws! How these turn out, well, your guess is as good as mine. It's time for more experimenting as I'm feeling quite motivated and somewhat energised.

I hope they turn out well but I really don't want to get the baking bug. I've seen 10 minutes of The Great British Bake Off, I don't want to obsess about things rising or collapsing, and obsess I would. Full on baking for me would be a nightmare.

I'm off to try and attempt the cheese straws, send me successful baking vibes please, I'm going very out of my comfort zone here!

I'll let you know if I hear from Roddy.
