Owen Potts Quick For Cooks - Good Find!

Since becoming a coeliac I can't tell you how much time I have spent in the stock cubes aisle of my Tesco. Sure it would be lovely to make my own stocks and gravys, but there's just no time when work is so constantly hectic. For well over a year I didn't have a stock cube problem, I was using Kallo chicken stock cubes and very nice they were too (not a patch on my beloved Telma cubes though).

A month or so ago the packaging changed, as did the bloody recipe, now it contains pepper. I'm allergic to pepper. So I had to find a new option, for reference it was Knorr chicken granules, no gluten, no pepper. While scrutinising every packet and jar to see if it was suitable or not, on the top shelf I saw some interesting looking sauce and gravy pouches. On further inspection on the back of one that I liked the look of, Chicken, Thyme and White Wine Gravy it said gluten free and suitable for coeliacs. On yet further inspection (oh the shopping experiences of a coeliac!) the ingredients did indeed look safe.

It's been a while since I had it (I have another pouch just begging to be used in the cupboard), so I can't remember the meal exactly, but it was chicken and something and the gravy was delish. I love strong flavours so this was a winner for me, you could really taste the lemon juice and the thyme and it complimented the gravy perfectly. It was actually quite close to one I've made myself.

There's a whole range of Owen Potts Quick For Cooks foods but like me, unless you picked it up and checked, you would never know it was a gluten free product. Unless your supermarket is putting it in the free from section of course. Check out the range, there's only 2 or 3 items that aren't gluten free:

Perfect for busy people who love homemade flavours.
