So Good |
If you're a regular reader you will know that I have a bit of a crisp addiction, I'm constantly on the lookout for new gluten free snacks and this was a brilliant find. I'd never heard of Jack Pots Crisps before seeing them on Saturday, they have very eye catching packaging so I'd be quite surprised if they had passed me by previously, I guess they were new to the frequently visited crisp shelves.
Once noticed this flavour jumped out at me, it's been years since I've had a proper salt and vinegar crisp, Mrs Crimble's make a good
substitute but they aren't what I would call proper crisps.
On inspection they were clearly listed as gluten free!

Wonderful Sight To See |
I'm not going to beat around the bush, these crisps are amazing! The flavour is incredibly strong, so much so that I've pulled a few
Tangfastic faces whilst eating them. I didn't know what the difference was between Cider Vinegar and Cyder Vinegar so I looked it up, basically Cyder is the finer version of Cider made from a single pressing of a vintage fruit. Pretty much like regular olive oil verses extra virgin.
If you love strong flavours then you'll love these crisps, they really pack a punch.

These Are Now Gone |
Another lovely thing about these crisps is that they're really thin, so you get a huge amount of flavour on each one with just a hint of the potato coming through. My kind of crisp! Jack Pots have other flavours that are gluten free too; Sweet Thai Chilli, Lightly Salted and Mature English Cheddar and Spring Onions. They also have a Roast Beef and Horseradish flavour but that one is
not gluten free so steer clear of that one.
I now have proper salt and vinegar crisps back in my life, I think they're the best version of that flavour that I have ever tasted.
Another gluten free discovery was a blast from the past. Whilst waiting at the checkout I noticed a huge amount of Spam on the shelf, curiosity got the better of me so I checked the label. Sure enough, yes Spam is gluten free. I found that surprising.

Why Can't All Brands Be This Clear? |
I used to enjoy Spam as a kid but I kind of got turned off after watching Singles. If you've seen it you'll know why, I'm not going there! Anyway, I found it interesting that such an old fashioned brand could be so clear in their labelling (Hartley's Jelly I'm looking at
you).
The long weekend meals consisted of Fondue with Smoked Chicken, Chicken Bacon Bites, Poussin, Cheese Bread with Gammon and Mozzarella, Hong Kong Style Pork, Chicken Kiev and last but not least, Smoked Salmon with Tarragon and Chive Scrambled Eggs and a Cream Cheese Ciabatta (DS Gluten free).

Sunday Brunch |
|
5 Minute Meal |
I love having this for Sunday brunch because it's so quick and easy. All I do is toast the ciabatta and cook the eggs, done.
If only every weekend could be a long one, roll on Christmas for a decent holiday period. I didn't do any experiments this weekend but I did discover that I can no longer eat peppers, me eating peppers = burp monster. I'm staying away indefinitely.
Here's to a happy week.
